Colorado shooting: Gabrielle Giffords, Mark Kelly 'horrified'

Mark Kelly, the husband of former Rep. Gabrielle Giffords, said he and his wife were “horrified” by the mass murder shooting early Friday in Aurora, Colo.

“Gabby and I were horrified to hear of the tragedy in Colorado last night,” Kelly tweeted. “Our thoughts and prayers are with the victims and their families.”

...... Ron Barber, a Giffords staffer who was injured in the shooting, won the special election to serve the remainder of Giffords’s term.

Barber said in a statement that his “thoughts and prayers” go out to the entire Aurora community.

“The people of Aurora have suffered an immense loss,” he said. “We are tested in times like these and we must come together to support one another in the wake of tragedy. I know that Aurora and its residents will take solace in one another in the coming days and weeks.”

“All of Southern Arizona, and the nation, stands with you today,” the congressman said.
