At Least 1 State Has Run Out of Federal Funding for Children's Health Insurance

BY STATELINE | NOVEMBER 27, 2017
Michael Ollove

The state of Minnesota has run out of federal funds for its Children’s Health Insurance Program this month, requiring the state to contribute more of its own resources to keep the health plan in operation. It appears to be the first state to run out of federal funds for the program since Congress failed to meet a September deadline to reauthorize the program.

Other states are expected to run out of CHIP funding in the next months, although not all will follow the path taken by Minnesota and Oregon, of investing state resources to make up for the loss of federal funds. By state law, some of them are required to shut down their CHIP programs if federal funding disappears. Colorado and Virginia have announced that they plan to send letters to the families of CHIP beneficiaries in the next weeks to alert them to the end of the program Jan. 31.

Pro life until birth and then the GOP says screw you and your child. And then the Koch’s and Murdoch will unleash their media empires to blame the child. The old Republic is dying quickly.

It's as if they are purposely creating a society where the majority of Americans are trapped into poverty, in pain and suffering.

Now who would want to go out of their way to do that?

Putin comes to mind. I think the GOP has been playing patty cake with Putin for money and a little power for a long time.

They won't be happy until we lapse back to the world of the 17th and 18th centuries as described by Charles Dickens. (Or the 21st century's John Yoo.)

This is why I'm investing in Guillotine futures.

This quote comes to mind this time of year and unfortunately mirrors the mindset of the country’s rulers (clearly they are not our leaders).

drumpf is an idiot puppet lured by promises of boundless personal profit and too ignorant and venal to even notice that he's endangered the very idea, the morality, the constitution of this country. He doesn't care that he's breaking the law, that he's a traitor, that he's hurting millions and millions of people. He has 2 allegiances only - himself and Putin. While Mueller is working on bringing him down, he's destroying us on a daily basis. We need thoroughness from Mueller, but the country also needs speed. Every partisan unqualified hack that is installed as judge just endangers us ever more in our daily lives. He's installing rape apologists (supporting would be child rapist as Senator) so courts will let criminal assaulters like him go free. He's installing people who believe that we have to follow their particular version of belief or go to jail, people who are racists and misogynists and corporatists - horrible people who will live to fuck over the working class and poor and do nothing to stop drumpf from acting as a total dictator with no controls on his actions.

They are farting around with tax cuts for big business and billionaires, which would be a disaster in this booming economy. But they've failed in taking care of us, the people who voted them into office. And Puerto Rico? Let's not forget that, either. No disaster relief for California - why? Because it's a blue state.
