Weve all been there: fiddling with your smartphone because its there, or reaching for it when you hear a text message notification. Austrian designer Klemens Schillinger created the Substitute Phone as a way to help smartphone addicts cope in its absence.

(7,911 posts)I look at it maybe twice a week, when it rings. I talk for a few minutes then hang up and put it back in my pocket till the next time it rings a few days later. I don't text. So, no, I don't fiddle with my phone. What a monumental waste of time that would be!
