...but if the Cinemark theater had just bothered to have a security guard patrolling the emergency exit doors for the theater - you know, to prevent people from sneaking in to see The Dark Knight Rises for free - don't you think this could have stopped Holmes dead in his tracks, saved a whole bunch of people from being injured or killed, and prevented so many DUers from going apeshit over the same old discredited gun-control arguments all over again?

Then he left through the emergency exit door, propped it open, bought his car around, geared up, and re-entered the theater.
No alarms on the door -- not even silent ones? No surveillance cameras -- not even for the parking lots? No guards -- even at the risk of denting the theater's profit margins?
So what's the solution? Apparently the AMC chain of movie theaters thinks it's to ban customers in costume!

(25,592 posts)Security alarms and cameras cost money to install and operate. Then if tripped, someone, on the clock, is supposed to go check it out?
They can only overcharge so much for the candy, popcorn and drinks to pay for the security. They are already at that point of resistance.
