I heard this same sentence on two MSNBC shows in two days. During Richard Engel's show about the moron's conflict of interests with his businesses while president a person who is experienced in this area and the Emoluments Clause said she is surprised people are not storming the Bastille over this blatant disregard for the constitution. Today on Joy Reid a gentleman who worked with Reagan and finances/taxes said he was surprised people aren't furious that this Tax Scam is increasing taxes on the poor in order to make the rich even richer...this has never been done by the US and is insane. Both are in disbelief that citizens aren't freaking out and "marching in the street".
Why aren't we marching in the streets???!!!! Why are we so lazy and apathetic!?
I just saw that an almost identical post was on DU two hours ago...sorry for the repeat. I was just watching Joy as I wrote it. Great minds...
Here is a link for info about how YOU can do something besides comp, gaining. DO IT..and spread the word through social media, etc.

(60,019 posts)Maybe the gaslighting is using real gas....something is certainly setting up a situation where our country will sit back and relax and watch all decency and progress get smashed right in front of our eyes.
Mystifying.

(51,627 posts)It as though the entire country has given up and accepted this BS. Oh well...at least when I die I will know that I fought for my country. True, not in the military/war sense but in ways that I am physically and financially able to do....write, call, protest, sign petitions, volunteer to knock on doors, spread the word to others, etc. Every little bit helps and is better than doing nothing except waving a white flag.

(60,019 posts)The things that have happened over the last year that seemed impossible makes it seem impossible to fight, for many.

(12,634 posts)A tax cut. It's even pretty complacent here on DU.

(51,627 posts)WE are an informed group here. Have we been distracted by the BS of Franken and not focused on the real priorities and quickly approaching Senate deadline to pass the bill instead? Shame on us if that is the case. That means DU is falling for the typical GOP distraction games.
PRIORITIES DUers! Delay the Tax Scam NOW!!!!!

(5,164 posts)I guess theyre apathetic, or worried they will be harmed - some may be. I cant go to any large demonstrations too far way from home and a hospital. This is what we need to be focused on as well as the other obvious stuff threatening our existence. My R house rep voted against it though- I was surprised but Im sure hed vote for it even if it was improved somewhat but still terrible for most people and ACA.
