I Demand Congress Stop Arming Dangerous People

Colorado 2012 Shooting The horrendous shooting in Aurora, CO is yet another tragic reminder that we have a national problem of easy availability of guns in this country.

Sign our petition to demand Congress address this problem:

I believe that these people should not be able to buy, own, or carry a gun anywhere in our nation:

• Convicted felons
• Convicted domestic abusers
• Terrorists
• People found to be dangerously mentally ill

Candidates for Congress, if you don't sign this Statement of Principle, I won't vote for you.

Signed,

Your Name.

1. The shooter had no criminal record - only a speeding ticket.

Btw, it was the GOP that let the assault rifle ban lapse.

There are a good couple dozen of "Democrats" who kow-tow to the NRA on gun control.

"I Demand Congress Stop Arming Dangerous People"

That's just silly.

"Candidates for Congress, if you don't sign this Statement of Principle, I won't vote for you"

So we're going to get all Grover Norquist now, eh?
Luckily, there are no links or anything in the OP, so it can't be taken seriously.

I didn't notice that the links didn't work before I went out today. Anyways, I'm done for voting ever for so-called Democrats who won't take a firm stand in support of progressive gun control reform. Fuck'em.

voice in the gun debate.

Having the NRA being the only organization speaking out for gun rights is like having one political party run Washington all of the time... which would be great if it was true progressives, but not so great when it's GOPers.

...even on DU there is an attempt to silence progressives on gun control. It's much worse in the public debate, progressives are effectively silenced in the media. This young man was able to buy 4 guns within 60 days and extended capacity magazines without so much as a pointed question about his purpose.

If you enter information on that page, you are sent immediately to one that solicits donations. They're low on money and have been using desperate bloody-shirt-waving tactics like this for years.

Convicted felons, domestic abusers, people adjudicated as mentally incompetent, etc. are already prohibited from owning firearms under federal law, and every state has its own laws that parallel and are often stricter than federal law.
