14 reasons why Trumps tweets on Al Franken cannot be ignored

Donald Trump’s tweets are exhausting and many people, particularly Republican members of Congress, prefer to ignore them.

But a series of tweets by Trump on Thursday night about allegations of sexual harassment and assault against Sen. Al Franken (D-MN) cannot be ignored.

Franken has been accused of a very serious episode of sexual harassment and misconduct by radio commentator and former model Leeann Tweeden. Today, a short time after the news broke, Franken apologized for his behavior and said he supported an ethics investigation into the incident.

At least 14 women, on the other hand, have accused Trump of sexual assault.

...because I sure wish I'd had a flak jacket back 40 some years ago when a guy grabbed me. Pretty sure something that offers protection from bullets and shrapnel would have protected me from hands.

The picture Franken intended as a joke was embarrassing and creeped Tweeden out for sure, but to consider it groping is ridiculous. The picture is the equivalent of the stupid pictures all over the internet taken of people passed out or sleeping, with things drawn on their faces, things put in their hands, or people posing around them. Groping could not have been Franken's intention - it wasn't even possible - flak jacket. Calling it groping is inaccurate. If he intended to grope, the rehearsal was the opportunity, and he didn't take it - and she doesn't accuse him of it.

He disagrees with Tweeden's statements on the kiss. I'm giving him the benefit of the doubt on this one too, because of everything I know about him, because she exaggerated the picture so maybe the rehearsal kiss too, because Roger Stone somehow knew she was going to announce this, and because she shared the picture with Hannity years ago.

Trump, on the other tiny hand, made an actual confession of his actual groping and forced kissing, and everyone dances around it.
