Is it sexual abuse to repeatedly publish the picture of Franken committing sexual abuse?

Now the picture is on the cover of the NYDN...

I guess since it didn't involve nudity they can show it everywhere?

Just the media appealing to our prurient nature?

Insensitive?

Revenge?

2. Was this story the result of investigative reporting?

Seems more like someone coming forward for a takedown...using the current media environment for maximum damage.

4. I don't have a copy of NYDN, since I no longer live there.

That said, if they have a story about Franken, then including the picture is almost required under journalistic standards. Perhaps they should blur the face of the victim, would that make it better?

6. Since the victim is a somewhat well known public figure

blurring the face probably wouldn't make a difference. But I do think it's something that should be done, or at least considered, in most cases.

where she claims he was fondling her THROUGH A KEVLAR VEST!. JFC, that was the joke part. And everybody talks about it like it was "fondling". pfft. It was a joke.

10. I think the motivation wasn't sexual gratification...the vest would have prevented that

However, the motivation could possibly be to humiliate, objectify, and take advantage of her, which is probably worse. Rape isn't a crime of sex, it's a crime of power and control. While this isn't rape, it could certainly come from the same place.

Especially in the context of the alleged spurned advances.

5. I think since the victim was the one who put the photo out there

it's fair game to publish it in related stories.

Had that NOT been the case, the morality is a little more murky. It's like publishing the personal information or photo of a rape victim without her consent, versus one who came forward.

This entire thing stinks to high heaven.

... the plane the escort was talking about.

Stone knowing about this before the release is a big tale tell that this crap is staged

15. Until people come out from the anonymity of Twitter, they're still social media news.

Because, if true, this gentleman could have exculpatory evidence, I asked him to please take his story to the media.

No response and no stories yet (though factchecking could take a day or two).

I hope if he does have testimony that clears Franken he will choose a better platform than Twitter.

when the picture was taken.

And the only source so far saying the photo was staged with her consent has been an anonymous twitter account that has posted fake news before quoting an anonymous “photographer” that isn’t named and has shown up nowhere else- so try to to repeat unverified or fake news as fact.

12. Who would technically "own" the photo, for copyright? Seriously curious.

The photographer who took it?

The people in it?

The USO, as it allegedly came on a CD of photos from the tour?
