Vivid Images of Protests and Clashes in Syria (attacks on protesters)

&feature=player_embedded

Last Updated, 5:05 p.m. Video posted online by Syrian activists on Friday appeared to document sustained gunfire on the streets of Syria’s two largest cities, as government forces struggled to regain full control of Damascus, two days after a bomb attack in the capital killed senior security officials.

Restrictions on independent reporting imposed by the Syrian government make it hard to verify the authenticity of images recorded by opposition activists, but bloggers who have provided reliable information in the past pointed to video uploaded on Friday that appeared to show an attack on protesters in Damascus and fighting between rebels and government forces in Aleppo.

Rami Jarrah, who coordinates the efforts of a network of video activists inside Syria from Cairo, drew attention to clips of protesters rallying outside the police headquarters on Khaled Ibn Al Walid Street in Damascus, and then fleeing from gunfire.

The video of the dead men does appear to have been filmed on the same street as the images of the protest, since a silver van parked in front of a red Do Not Enter sign can be seen at the very start of this clip and near the end of the other.
