It's been running pretty frequently here (NC battleground state) and every time it ran, I kept hearing Mittens sing: "God shed his grapes on thee." And as you know the line is: "God shed his Grace on thee."
I found the ad, cranked up the volume and sure enough he's saying "grapes". Or at the very least the audio distortions used to create the "atmospheric" effects make it sound that way.

Does somebody have a link to the source video for this?
On Edit: Found it. He is saying "Grace".

If God is going to shed his grapes on me I hope they are good wine grapes.

Ask them about it. The soft c sound isn't an easy one to project and without knowing how to do it and making an effort to do it correctly it can easily be lost.

(9,001 posts)He clearly enunciates the ssss in the original, source video. The distorted audio in the Obama ad causes the word to sound different.
And... he was using a mic and amplifiers, so projection was not necessary.
So, given that I've spent 5 minutes of my life I'll never get back explaining something you could've heard yourself if you had just deigned to listen, you would have heard the difference yourself and come to the same conclusion.
