Stephen K. Bannons first foray into Senate electoral politics has resulted in the nomination of a fringe character who has a long-list of women who accuse him, essentially, of being a sexual predator of children. His defenders might say, Ah, that was the plot all along to destroy the GOP! Well, if that was really his intent to deprive President Trump of a majority in one or both houses (hence accelerating impeachment) and to launch an era of Democratic rule who among us could have done a better job?
Some Republicans have taken the politically expedient and morally vacant if true position on Moore, which is a perfect example of why Steve Bannons war to destroy them is succeeding, said the masterful Trump critic and GOP operative Rick Wilson. MSNBCs Chris Hayes got it exactly right when he called Bannon the strategic genius whos managed to maneuver the Republican Party into being all in on a man who stands accused of molesting a child. What would be his other accomplishments?
Bannon has made a laughingstock of the morally bankrupt evangelical Christian right, prompting more than 50 of the self-appointed values leaders to write a letter in support of an accused predator. Theyve been exposed as power-hungry operators who lust for influence and affirm the rightness of their flocks self-pity and resentment.
Bannon has foreshadowed a world more bloody, unstable, autocratic in which the United States is not the leading power on the world stage. What would the world look like if America cheered thugs in Russia, China, Turkey and the Philippines? We are getting a taste of that now, which should be enough to drive a stake in the heart of so-called realist foreign policy.

(36,289 posts)Can't read a transcript of any of his speeches without finding a few instances where it's clear he doesn't understand the real meanings of some of the words and phrases he's using. "Deconstruction" is not the same as "destruction", which is what he actually means when he says the former.

(65,173 posts)While i agree with his assessment of the grotesquely overrated Bannon, the 50 pastor letter has already been proven to be a fraud perpetrated by Moore and his wife.
