his dad to say the election was 'rigged' and refuse to concede if he lost.

1) would that not give Putin a 'what aboutthem' scenario/narrative in regards to the USA so that Russia's sketchy democracy under Putin would have company and protect Russia from being singled out for their corruption

2) didn't Trump actually start to say "it is rigged" at the end of the 2016 election. That is my recollection.

1. Yes, he certainly did.

To my recollection, he said it several times. It will be interesting to go back and see exactly when he started floating the idea of the election being "rigged" - and no doubt there are people looking into that right now.
