And not only him -- this is probably what they did to most of the male sexual predators in their community.

A non-srop Bible thumper in the heart of the Bible Belt. Putting on one great show for the good folks of his state. Works every time!

If you talk about Jesus loudly and often you can get away with damn near anything, at least in Alabama.

Jesus
Jesus
Jesus

It’s also important to remember that Jesus was a straight, white, conservative male who read Ayn Rand in his free time and really hated abortion. Just like it says in the Bible.

On a less flippant note: these people know dick-all about Christianity, but they’re great at identifying their “tribe” and that’s all they really give a shit about.

1. He was a DA and was in the position to influence the legal authorities.

2. Talked a good "Bible" game.

3. So far with the victims we do know, this was in an era and area where they may have thought "well, she must have asked for it".

4. He had all the right "credentials".

Or too embarrassed. Maybe blaming themselves. No one talked to people who could or would do anything about it.

Now they are talking and finally being believed by at least some. I hope they will keep on talking and telling their stories. Roy Can protest and deny all he wants. The truth is finally coming out. Let’s hope that the people of Alabama realize what a vile, disgusting man Moore is.

Which we have been told for years doesn’t exist. It’s not just Republicans. The same denial of evidence was invoked continually to justify Assange’s hiding from a valid arrest warrant. Those people did exactly what Republicans are doing for Moore. They did it for Woody Allen over his molestation of his six-year-old daughter, who was villified here because that movie star was seen as more valuable than a child, just as Moore is seen as more valuable than the women he assaulted. Republicans decry liberal rapists and Democrats are quit to denounce a Republican sexual assailant, but if is someone they admire, the women are denounced as liars and political plants. It is the same rape culture than put a sexual predator in the White House. The same culture that dismisses the victims of Moore, Assange, and Allen as liars decided Hillary was a liar, despite the fact every fact checking source found her the most truthful of any candidate in either party. It’s a culture of misogyny that ensures women are kept down, that they are never good enough, and that men with no or few accomplishments are seen as superior to women with extraordinary qualifications. It’s the culture of misogyny that put Trump in office, assisted by men and women across the political spectrum who view women as less, as liars, and unfit.

the South, any of the famous families/rich families/criminal families can get away with absolutely anything. The power they wield is nearly absolute in the small communities they inhabit.

A friend of a friend comes from a similar southern state and she has been talking about how one of the women in her small town has basically 'disappeared' her husband and no one has said a thing. That woman is from a powerful local family. My friend has no doubt that the man's body will be found one day.
