71 people shot in that movie theater (from AP)

The wisdom of legal access to the means to unleash such destruction in mere minutes is a reasonable thing to question.

--------------------

AURORA, Colo. (AP) - Police say 71 people were shot in a suburban Denver movie theater early Friday during midnight shows of the new Batman movie.

Twelve people were killed, ten of them at the theater.

Another 59 adults and children were wounded.

Aurora Police Chief Dan Oates says there were four showings of "The Dark Knight Rises" at the time and all were sold out.

Even if the original pencil wielding menace was head to toe in pencil-proof armor. All of the other pencil-carrying movie patrons would have seen through the fog of the smoke bomb ambush and stuck lead in his eye.

...there should be a thread for every victim. Apparently 71 victims so that would mean 71 threads.

a couple of the earlier news reports said earlier this am.

I imagine that with all the people who were running out of the entire theater, getting a head count took some time.
One of the Denver news sites said some people had been wounded and went to hospitals on their own.
Implies not too severe wounds, I should think.

Can't you just hear the RW say that? That's often been their reply. Just think--a good, gun-toting guy in that same DARK theater. That's all we needed.

in this case, I don't think anyone with a CC would have been able to take action. First everyone was caught off guard as they were watching the movie with sound effects, second, the terrorist used tear gas and lastly was completely covered with bullet protective gear from head to ankles
