For that alone I'd be all in favor of taking their guns away.

(154,021 posts)Byt that tweet shows it. I have no clue how many more tragedies will take before we have a turn of heart as a nation...but more will come.
SkyDaddy7
(6,045 posts)I disagree with the OP thinking the NRA was "oblivious" in making the Tweet...They did it on purpose to get under folks skin because they have NOTHING to worry about. They own most of congress.
I am a gun owner but I am fully aware this kind of thing cannot be allowed to continue happening. The only problem I see is exactly how one goes about stopping someone like this guy who is determined to kill as many folks as possible.
Making all guns illegal & then the literal war that comes with collecting the guns is a pipe dream that will not happen in our lifetimes. So, what other option do we have that would actually prevent this from taking place?
nadinbrzezinski
(154,021 posts)as to making guns illegal, you are right it ain't gonna happen.
but when you have people who cannot even agree to the closing of the Gun Show loophole, it will take many more of these shootings, they are coming. And sadly, they are the new normal.
And yes, we own guns too.

(20,958 posts)btw, it's not just the availability of firearms...these sociopaths have successfully cowed the CDC, ATF and FBI from collecting and sharing information that could at the very least help victims and prevent massacres such as this.
the NRA is a parasite and we need to delouse.

(1,374 posts)It shows up in Google searches as the official journal of the NRA but the twitter account appears to be deleted. They are scrubbing.

(15,665 posts)I pulled it up just minutes ago, after you mentioned it was gone. Odd. I dunno, maybe I caught a server that the deletions hadn't propagated to yet. Or something.

(45,788 posts)Any other day, it's offensive. There have been six mass shootings this year, I think. Still pretty close to the Norway shootings. Today, if tweeter was aware, it's horrific. Today, if tweeter was unaware, it's idiotic.
Bad in any context.
PavePusher
(15,374 posts)The context is in the form of "Are you going hunting/target shooting/training class/other lawful, peaceful firearms activity". I don't see how any of that would be offensive.

One year tomorrow Hissypit.. A whole year have turned around, and Norway have to mourn again what happened. But at least, the one who did the murdering are in a prison cell - waiting for his day in court to be sentenced..(It will be in August I believe). The prosecutor asked for life (21 year +) so I guess no less than 21 year is on the table here
What happened in the US is horrible - and I hope this time they "might" decide what to do about all this weapons - even though I doubt it... It will go on to the next time - and then next time again and again and again and again...

(10,303 posts)For all the non-US media sources I was looking at today, two stories were in the headlines: rising violence in the Syrian Civil War, and the Movie Theatre massacre in Aurora (a lot of non US was saying a suburb of Denver). Start off with the BBC (I have World Service Radio on overnight), Al Jazeera, NHK, RT, France24... do I need to go on?
How hard is it to figure out something big has happened in the world that day?

(26 posts)Where is the words of wisdom from the Koolaid drinking nut jobs of the NRA. They spin bulls--t propaganda tales to make the faithful feel there are great problems for gunatics. Now another real problem happens and Wayne Lapiere has nothing to say. I am almost 60 years old and have never needed a gun for protection. The NRA crowd lives on the premise of what might happen and ignore what "is" happening around them. It does explain though why they are all Republicans because they are hypocrites!
