Mueller team investigating pre-election meeting between Flynn and Putins favorite congressman
https://www.rawstory.com/2017/11/mueller-team-investigating-pre-election-meeting-between-flynn-and-putins-favorite-congressman-report/
Special counsel Robert Muellers team of investigators is looking into a pre-election meeting that took place in 2016 between then-Trump campaign adviser Michael Flynn and Rep. Dana Rohrabacher (R-CA), who has often been described as Putins favorite congressman.
NBC News is reporting that the meeting allegedly took place in Washington the evening of September 20 last year and was arranged by his lobbying firm, the Flynn Intel Group.
NBC News report does not have any information about the nature of the meeting, although it says that it is reviewing emails sent from Flynns firm to Rohrabachers staff thanking them for arranging the meeting.
Rohrabacher, a California Republican who has become notorious for his efforts to advance Russian interests as a member of the United States Congress, recently had his travel privileges restricted over fears that he has been compromised by Russian intelligence officials.

Mueller is not new to this. Been at this "investigation/conviction thing" a long time. Also, what he doesn't know, some of the people on his team "know." or know where to get the information to prosecute someone, anyone.
Mueller and his team will get those that did wrong. He appears to be persistent and focused. He will get them, and it won't be pretty. And when he get them, they will squeal. That is my opinion, and I do believe that is what is going to happen....Oh, one more idea...
Some characters on the evil side of the street who did wrong, and thought that they could get away with it, don't have a clue as to who this Mueller is and his end game. These clowns still think that "they can get away with it"
It is slow and tedious, but, Mueller and his team will get them, and convict them. It will be quite a show

Theres two people I think Putin pays: Rohrabacher and Trump, McCarthy (R-Calif.) said, according to a recording of the June 15, 2016, exchange, which was listened to and verified by The Washington Post. Rep. Dana Rohrabacher is a Californian Republican known in Congress as a fervent defender of Putin and Russia.
House Speaker Paul D. Ryan (R-Wis.) immediately interjected, stopping the conversation from further exploring McCarthys assertion, and swore the Republicans present to secrecy.
Before the conversation, McCarthy and Ryan had emerged from separate talks at the Capitol with Ukrainian Prime Minister Vladimir Groysman, who had described a Kremlin tactic of financing populist politicians to undercut Eastern European democratic institutions.

Ryan was playing the game just to keep his own job. I believe he hated Trump and almost refused back him when he won the nomination. But we all know how this ended. Lie down with dogs and you get up with fleas. Ryan is going down with all the rest. I really hope this will be the end of the GOP.

(78 posts)Ryan said after McCarthy said the the Russians paid Rorhabacher and Trump (from the 5-17-17 New Yorker magazine article):
"...McCarthys remark is met with laughter, and Ryan cautions his colleagues, This is an off the record . . . No leaks! . . . All right?
And then, amid more laughter, Ryan says, This is how we know were a real family here.
Thats how you know that were tight, Steve Scalise, the House Majority Whip, says.
Whats said in the family stays in the family, Ryan concludes.

Sure seems like a cover-up to me. And it sounds to me like they are a real family, a REAL CRIME FAMILY!!!

(6,254 posts)NJ is reliably Dem state but regrettably I live in a reliably red district. In fact Rep. Tom MacArthur (R) is my rep and I almost hit the floor when I saw that he was the congressman that ran point and tried to resuscitate the repeal of Obamacare that McCain scuttled. This piece of garbage congressman is worth about $30 million so he has nothing to lose. Before MacArthur John Runyan the former football player who was, at one point, the highest paid lineman in the league, my congressman. I call MacArthur s office often and give him hell. He is now running tv ads saying we should that for supporting tax reform that will save the average family $1200 a year. Wow a whole $100 a month tax saving, compared to the hundreds of thousands he will save. So I feel your pain living in progressive state but a conservative district.

(32,645 posts)At least some - if not most - of the leads that Mueller is working on now were already in the hands of Comey and the FBI when Mueller came on board.
Yes that's correct - Jim Comey had a lot of info on Trump before the election. He said nothing about any of it, meanwhile all he could talk about was investigating Hillary's emails. Complete radio silence about all the Russian collusion/vote hacking/money laundering/ and all the other shit that's coming out now.
How do you like that guy? Comey's not such a "saint" or "hero" after all. He claimed he couldn't talk about Trump's bad stuff because it was under investigation. But Hillary's bad stuff - the so-called hacked emails - he couldn't shut up about those, could he?
I believe Jim Comey has a lot to answer for, and he certainly violated the Hatch Act, if nothing else. Government employees cannot work to support or help any candidate during the election process. They must remain neutral and helpful to neither side.
Honeycombe8
(37,648 posts)He is not the one who informed the public about the investigation. It was revealed, I believe, because a Grand Jury had been convened before. So, being a simpler matter than foreign invasion by cyberwarfare and possible collusion, it had progressed quickly.
The FBI also didn't reveal the investigation into the Russian cyberhacking invasion and possible collusion. You might as well ask why Congress didn't reveal it, since at least the intel committees knew. Ask Schiff why he didn't reveal that.
The FBI of course doesn't reveal its investigations. Of course, if it gets to a point of Grand Jury testimony....it is revealed by default at that point.
Comey mentioned the Clinton investigation twice, that I recall. Once to announce the investigation was over, and he was recommending no charges. The next time was the infamous October surprise. He screwed up on that second time and shouldn't have done it.
