Fox News analyst: Victims of sexual assault are 'very few and far between'

BY MAX GREENWOOD - 11/10/17 10:52 AM EST

Fox News legal analyst Mercedes Colwin said during a panel discussion on "Hannity" on Thursday that the actual number of women who experience sexual harassment and assault are "very few and far between."

Fox News host Sean Hannity asked Colwin, a manager partner of the law firm Gordon & Rees in New York, how common it is for women to make up harassment allegations for money or "political reasons."

"There are individuals that'll come forward with these outrageous allegations," Colwin replied.

The Fox host argued that those making allegations that are unfounded hurt the actual victims most.

"There are women who are victims of predators," Hannity said.

"There are. But very few and far between," Colwin replied.

she shouldn't be working in a law firm. The truth is there are many women who are victims of sexual predators that never come forward because they're afraid they won't be believed.

Which is why Moore's victims can finally have a voice.

Moore's PR people used the expected "Whybis this just coming out now?" Line. Why? Because it CAN come out.

But this is the absolute lowest. And also a reflection of a mindset that desperately wants to return to 'the good ole days' when sexual exploitation, harassment and assault were all in a woman's weak mind, a result of hysteria.

This will not stand! Nor will excuses and explanations of molestation and pedophilia.

The acts are disgusting enough; the excuses unspeakable. Hannity should be fired! Children do not consent to their own exploitation and women have had enough of the willful denials, the 'nothing to see here' bloviating that Sean Hannity et al are so adept at. Truly shameless and despicable.

And for so-called Christians? Jesus is weeping.

At least 20% of all women have been subjected to a sexual assault of some kind. And that may be too low a figure.

That is what this Mercedes Colwin said.
I think this was before Alies resigned...Alies resigned on 7/20...this interview where Colwin defended him was on 7/11/16...read about half way through the story to find what Colwin said about Alies.

Here is a quote from that article:

"There's a big difference between that kind of thing and the allegations that are being discussed here," says MacCallum. "So I would say no, nothing like sexual harassment or impeding someone's career. No. I would put that in a whole different category from anything I have ever heard"

24. Get a group of women together to talk about their life experiences.

Start talking about dating and being in the work place and I guarantee you that the stories will eventually start coming out. All it takes is one or two women to start telling what happened to them. How do I know this? Because I’ve been in situations exactly like that.

The number of women who report that they were pawed or groped (without consent) is appalling. There are also women who were actually raped but never told anyone. Or in one case I know of, the woman reported it to her mother who did not believe her own daughter (a minor at the time) because the rapist was someone known to the family. So it got swept under the rug and forgotten by all except the person who was the victim.

My mother in law was raped as a teenager by someone she knew who took advantage of her on a hayride. She is an old lady now but it impacted her whole life. She has huge trust issues and is very afraid of someone taking advantage of her. It is very sad really because she kept it a secret for most of her life and only told her daughters when they became teenagers so she could warn them to be careful of men.

I think if the women who have been subjected to unwanted sexual behavior was revealed it would be a staggering number of us. But many just keep it to themselves or a very limited circle of friends because they are afraid they won’t be believed or will be punished.

I have NO PROBLEM believing the women in the Roy Moore case because they have nothing to gain by coming forward now. Just scrutiny and maybe attention they’d rather not have. Roy Moore needs to be outed for his crimes. He has hidden behind his religion long enough.

What a jerk, that is why Hannity put her on ,basically to defend Moore as she defended Alies..It isn't "news" is lying to protect Moore. Mercedes Colwin is obviously a "woman" and a "lawyer." Perfect person to defend Moore ..she sounds like a "lawyer" is a lawyer, and can defend a predator, Moore, with legal sh*t .

I don't watch Fox, but my guess is she is on a lot. Not just this and Alies, but a lot of other goons and liars.

Based on some googling results, the law firm that she works for, Gordon & Rees, is a national law firm that seems to do a lot of defense work for businesses, organizations and individuals in suits involving inappropriate/illegal sexual behavior, usually on behalf of the insurance company that would be on the hook for any settlement.
