Remember two years ago when the TPP was still a thing?

Oh, wait -- It IS still a thing...

Odd how there are no protests or marches or strikes or calls to action from the leftist online punditsphere not even two years removed from it being one of the primary litmus tests for political candidates... Not only is there no outrage, I can't find a SINGLE high profile pundit who opposed it even mention this story today...

Beware false prophets... I only mention this story because there is a VERY important and specific lesson to be learned from this con job for people who have their eyes open...

hmmmm it doesn't seem odd to me that there are no protests or marches or strikes or calls to action from the leftist online punditsphere...against something that doesn't exist in this country.

It needed stronger protections.

It would have increased our clout on the world stage, gone in the direction of increasing standards for millions, and been one more unifying group to be a part of instead of opposition.

8. Same could be said about TTIP

Lots of Anti-TTIP sentiment in Germany (and probably Europe in general). But it's not like we hate trading with Americans. Most of us were probably afraid that some EU/Germany-specific consumer protections need to go in order to agree on TTIP.

The US "Chlorhühnchen" (chlorine-washed chicken) was always used as an example. Apparently Germans prefer their chicken with lots of bacteria and microbes, and/or they just hate chlorine. In any case, Germans were very afraid that suddenly we'll only find Chlorhühnchen in supermarkets in Germany.

I was sceptical about TTIP because it wasn't clear how it might change things for us (pretty intransparent discussions behind closed doors), and I wasn't sure about those arbitration courts. I generally like trade, but transporting goods comes with a carbon footprint, so it's probably not the best idea to ship standard food overseas before eating it.

President Obama was behind it 100% because it was good for American.

Us pulling out of it handed the pacific trade domination to China on a silver platter. We see that happening now.

Proof that populism on the left can be as dangerous as populism on the right.

We have been the party of free trade since FDR(remember learning about all he did).
