I think he could be a player in 2020 and have a chance to win.
What do you think?

(4,149 posts)Too much baggage. I'd much rather see O'Malley give it another shot. Or Sen Chris Murphy of Connecticut. Joe Biden would be a better choice, though I think his age would hurt his chances .

(5,755 posts)...Terry McAuliffe is just going to get beaten up by the Clinton shadow arguments that have been argued for so long that are believed by too many independents. Warren can 'marry' the Bernie supporters with the Clinton supporters which will be a devastating combination

(33,034 posts)The newish state party chief, David Pepper, is recruiting new younger down ballot talent, but that will take a few yrs. If Sen. Brown leaves Ohio, this state will be blood red damn quick.

(3,784 posts)If he ran for President, there's no doubt in my mind that he'd win and win big. He is MY Senator, he's from my hometown, and I haven't met ANYONE here in Ohio who doesn't like him (not even the Republicans will bad-mouth him, at least not that I've heard). The problem is that his wife has threatened to divorce him if he ever runs for President, so you can scratch him off your list. As I've said before, I believe in him so much, that if he ever did run, I'd be willing to work for his campaign. But I don't think it will ever happen.

(56,829 posts)I was expecting him to be like a Jim Webb, but he espoused some progressive ideas. That said, I think he has too much baggage from being involved with the Clintons and the DNC over the years.

(14,565 posts)Based on his MSNBC appearance today I think McAuliffe plans to run. That surprised me. He doesn't have a real world view of his chances. In a crowded primary field he won't be special enough in resume, personality or argument.
Right now it's easier for me to figure out who won't win the nomination, than who will win.
McAuliffe has done a nice job in Virginia. Too bad the state limits to one term.

(10,500 posts)take the opportunity to proclaim that his loss was another humiliating defeat for Hillary and enjoy the sound of their own voices as they said it.
I like the governor of Washington, Jay Inslee. And I also like Tom Steyer.

(642 posts)But I will take a look at Inslee and Steyer.
There seem to be a lot of good Democratic potential candidates out there.
I really like Senator Murphy from Connecticut.
