Im not an anti or pro gun nut. But we need to do a better job keeping guns away from the unstable -American population. By that I mean Americans who are unstable.

1. No argument from me but

how do you know? Early reports say this guy had a traffic ticket. Although the ACA should make things better, we don't have access to basic medical services, mental services are almost unavailable to all but the except to the rich. Even those with insurance don't always have access to mental health services.

Bullets kill people. Just ban bullets and people can have all the guns they want.

It is not easy living in beautiful Colorado because so many here believe that everyone should want to carry guns to "protect loved ones" and "keep "our homeland safe." As Obama just said "we all want to send comfort to our neighbors," but sadly we know in our hearts that this tragedy or a hundred like it will never convince many of our citizens that weapons made for killing will be used for killing and that it is not only a few "unstable" people who kill or die from gunfire. Our dear children and grandchildren are taught every day that "real Americans" believe guns are great protection and that "real patriots" believe that violence and war will somehow secure peace.

is committed by people with mental problems or prior criminal records of.violence.

5. That's difficult to do.

Only those who have been institutionalized or adjudicated by a court to be mentally ill would be on a background check. At least that's my understanding.

been problems.with some of those slipping through the cracks.and getting guns. And can't those people still purchase at gun shows?

8. From my understanding guns shows seem to get around enforcement of gun laws.....

but, even if everyone who sold guns did background checks most mentally ill people would not be on the list.
