Heard some guy on TV say he thought he heard firecrackers in the theatre and thought it was a prank

Everyone needs to know that firecrackers do not sound anything at all like a gunshot.

They may both be loud but that is where the similarities end.

A firecracker sounds like a boom.

A bullet sounds like a crack. Almost like a crack of thunder above your house.

Everyone should take some time to learn this difference. Teach your kids the difference too.

Even if you don't own or have ever been around guns it would be a good idea to go to a gun range and listen to the gunshots and learn this difference. They don't sound anything like a firecracker going off. Even big fireworks like an areal bomb at a fireworks show do no not sound like a gunshot.

Because if you don't know the difference by the time someone starts shooting it may be too late.

Just a little advice on this very sad day.

1. Not bad advice

I remember very well a shooting in my old neighborhood. The gunshots sounded like gunshots. The screaming sounded like screaming. Every year, firecrackers are set off around here (and everywhere I suppose) and they are nowhere as loud as gunshots.
