From Russia With Lies: Hacked DNC Emails Were Also 'Edited'
Much like the candidate they chose as their benefactor, it turns out that the Russians who hacked into the Democratic National Committee (DNC) during the 2016 election are also fond of using "alternative facts" in order to advance their twisted cause.
The Associated Press reports that the very first document released by hacker Guccifer 2.0 had been altered before it was released online. Not only did the email not actually come from the DNC as Guccifer alleged (it actually came from campaign chairman John Podesta), but an additional notation of "CONFIDENTIAL" was also incorrect, according to DNC officials. Apparently the hacker added the "confidential" tag to make it appear juicier to journalists.
