6. I find that college students will often work very hard on

anything that smacks of extra credit. (I'm often tempted to make my entire class 'extra credit,' because I know the students would probably put in twice the effort. )

In this case, I'd bet the exam bump the guys got by studying to make the video far outweighed the benefit of the promised curve...
