When you are the only "white male" and only Democrat in the room.

(my ancestry is complicated but "white" suffices for the sake of simplification)

On my last visit to the deep south: I'm in the room with my step mom and two of the female nurses who were taking care of my dad. My step mom voted for Trump. One of the nurses (eastern European immigrant) outed herself as a big-time Trump fan (said she was cheering when he won). Other nurse just laughed and said she usually keeps her views to herself (I read that as tacit agreement). Third nurse (wasn't in the room) keeps posting religious conservative stuff on Facebook (I'm reasonably sure she voted "R" ).

Then there is my Hispanic family: Religious conservatives for the most part and big-time anti-communists. Either didn't vote or voted third party in the last election from what I gather (maybe some of them went for Trump, wouldn't surprise me but I think they mostly went for Johnson).

Bottom line: Assuming that Democrats have the "women and minorities" vote wrapped up isn't a good idea. The real world is more complicated than that.
