By NICOLE LAFOND Published NOVEMBER 3, 2017 3:06 PM
A former foreign policy adviser for Donald Trumps campaign who pleaded guilty to lying to the FBI about his contacts with Russia, was stupid and had no business sitting in on the March 2016 foreign policy meeting, according to former Trump campaign adviser Michael Caputo.
That meeting is under fresh scrutiny after recently unsealed court documents show thats where George Papadopoulos offered to connect Trump with Russian President Vladimir Putin.
He was invited in because at the time the campaign was really reeling from criticism that it had no foreign policy or other advisers, Caputo said during an interview with MSNBC Friday. Donald Trump prided himself on running a lean and mean campaign. That group was slap dash put together in a way another campaign wouldnt do it. Papadopoulos had no business being there.
Caputo who earlier this week labeled Papadopoulos a coffee boy questioned why Papadopoulos wasnt awarded a position with the State Department or on the transition team if he was the kind of guy that had the credentials that would lead him to be in charge of collusion with Russia.

Seriously.
Michael Caputo actually did PR for Putin and the Russian government.

Russia media consultant
After the fall of the Soviet Union, Caputo established residence in Russia in 1994. He served as an adviser to Boris Yeltsin. In his capacity of advising Yeltsin in 1995, he was employed with the United States Agency for International Development. He served as president of The Florence Group from 1994 to 1999, and stated he "played a pivotal role in electing Boris Yeltsin to his second term as President of the Russian Federation." He was employed by Moscow-headquartered subsidiary of Gazprom, Gazprom-Media. Caputo was contracted for Gazprom in 2000 to perform employment for Russian leader Vladimir Putin. His task was to increase the standing of the public relations value of Putin, specifically with regards to Putin's support level in the U.S. He moved back from Russia to the U.S. in the year 2000. After returning to the U.S., he was called by his former mentor Roger Stone who convinced him to move to Miami Beach, Florida, and then Caputo founded his media advising company Michael Caputo Public Relations. Caputo moved back to Europe in 2007 while advising a politician's campaign for parliament in Ukraine.
I cannot stress this enough.
Michael Caputo--who Donald Trump frequently references when attempting to claim he did not collude with the Russian government--did P.R. work for the Russian government and Vladimir Putin.
That people aren't immediately blown over by the irony of that astounds me.

(20,499 posts)How, exactly, does a stupid person with no business there get in a presidential foreign policy meeting???
Could it be that your criticism should be directed towards someone else, someone supposedly in charge of the meeting, supposedly controlling the agenda...say, trump???
suffragette
(12,232 posts)people gathered in a room for a phony photo op. All to try to minimize Papadopoulos' role.
Keep digging deeper with that shovel.

(82,849 posts)I just can't for the life of me think how anything connected with such a thoroughgoing professional as Donald J. Trump ever being "slap dash"!
I wonder if anyone in the popular media will pick this up? "Slap dash"! Can you imagine? It's just so weird!
