(543 posts)The Bernie Bashers I have on ignore must be hysterical. I can only see nine responses instead of the 21 responses that are listed. I hate, hate, hate all the negativity, avoid it where and when I can. I held my nose to vote for Hillary, had/have no need to attack either her or her supporters. All this Bernie anger, and there must be piles of it, won't help us in 2018 or 2020.

(19,201 posts)stoking the fires of that discord? In this very post your passive aggressive tone is fanning the flames you say you "hate, hate, hate".
Oh, and I'm so glad you "held your nose to vote for Hillary". Your "support" is greatly appreciated.
Look, the past is past. If the Sanders folks would just put things behind them and look to the future there would be no need for you to put so many people on 'ignore'. If you can't put this behind you perhaps DU isn't the place for you? That's a question, not a statement.
Just sayin'. I fully expect to be on your 'ignore' list now, but have a nice day.

(19,201 posts)anyone on 'ignore'. If you can't tell the difference between a reply to a passive aggressive statement and creating a passive aggressive statement..........well.
Like I said, some people just can't move on and will continue dwelling in the past........until? Why give what happened 18 months ago the power to control your attitude today? Let's all move on together. Have a nice day.

(9,656 posts)my biggest take away from the current db news is this,
hc and the dnc made a HUGE mistake in delaying the start of the debates
it gave the repubs a 2 month head start on free air time which gave trump a huge head start gathering the support of low info voters that should of identified as dem (remember how he spoke like a populist?)
debates = free airtime
as long as we learn that lesson I am good with moving on together
progressoid
(49,991 posts)You limited your criticism of "some people" to supporters of only one candidate. Which is odd since there are quite a few Clinton supporters here who can't "just put this behind them".
Of course, I'm sure it's easier to assume that we will all move on together if we tell ourselves that only one side can't put the past in the past.

(1,201 posts)rather than hide it or lie about it they admitted to it and took steps to make sure it doesn't happen again. Problem solved so we don't have to keep bringing it up we can instead unite under our party's values. We are the party of FDR Johnson and Kennedy and stand for the working man and the people not the Banksters or their Billionaire buddies. Progressive ideas have not changed since FDR as we find new ways to combat repubs trying to dismantle the New Deal. Principles before labels or personalities. The majority of this nation want SS, Medicare and Medicaid, public education and a health care system for all. Republicans want totalitarianism and an oligarchy where the only rights belong to the wealthy. We are all Democratic Socialists as it both ensures our freedom and our survival. We decide what we all share

(22,651 posts)?? I for one think our D primary was a fair, CIVIL and hard fought fight. Hillary clearly won, Bernie did very well. Their campaigns several leaders worked together AFTER the primary and BOTH remain beloved in my book!

(543 posts)I held my nose because I saw nothing authentic in Hillary. Everything about her seemed controlled, straight out of a focus group. I never bought right wing lies about her, rooted for her in the early 90s in her attempt to overhaul the health care system, felt such sympathy for her during the Monica mess. I still remember the Clinton walk to the helicopter, Chelsea walking between them, holding hands with each one. Getting through that intact took so much courage. One of my strongest memories of the Clintons' is Hillary waiting in the car while Bill comforted the parents of those killed in the TWA accident. When he came back, he collapsed into her arms. The scene, barely captured through a tv lens, was real, so much caring, so much feeling in both of them. I didn't see any of that honesty in the campaign. Everything about her seemed calculated. Btw, I hope Bernie won't make a run in 2020. He'll be much too old. And I speak as someone almost seven years older than he is. We need younger blood and I don't see it emerging. Very discouraging future for Dems, for America. Sigh.

(22,651 posts)I don't know about Bernie in 2020, that man has an energy stronger then some people half his age. Age isn't really linear in humans, plenty of people are over the hill in 50s, while others are top of the heap 90s+. He can choose his own retirement day.
So, in your opinion Hillary wasn't 'authentic', no honesty in the campaign. While I saw a competent leader of a very well organized campaign(100s of people). To me Hillary acted presidential during her campaign, typical for her she didn't even share a serious illness (pneumonia) or break down in public tears over the constant RW pogrom against her personally.
To me she is still the same genuine person, she was in 1969- just a lot more experienced at delegating the work, an extremely competent seasoned Leader.
Wellesley College is releasing audio excerpts of a 21-year-old Hillary Rodham Clinton speaking at her 1969 commencement. The class selected Clinton as Wellesley's first-ever student commencement speaker. Clinton discussed leadership, the political climate in the 1960s and making the art of the impossible, possible.

(2,275 posts)I like Hillary and voted for her as well in the general election, although Bernie was my choice in the primary. I respect so much about Hillary: her intelligence, her character, her ability to withstand so much criticism. But she was always so calculating and measured in her statements, I didnt get the sense she was passionate about her beliefs. And I wasnt always sure what some of her beliefs were. If she wanted to reign in abuse of power by corporations to strengthen the middle class, why did she accept corporate donations to her campaign? And if she wanted to protect consumers from a corrupt banking industry, why did Wall Street pay her a lot of money to speak to them (and later refuse to release a transcript of the speech)?
Bernie wasnt perfect and I didnt agree with him on every issue, but I felt like he was squarely on the side of the 99%. I wonder if he would have won the presidency had he been the Democratic candidare. We will never know. I dont think he should run again either.
So many here at DU are rabid in their support of Hillary and just as crazed in their dislike of Bernie. It really prevents an honest discussion of ways we could strengthen the party going forward or what we could do to appeal to different voters.

(1,103 posts)showing the way for democrats to live up to their ideals. So what if he wants to be called a democratic socialist. I like what he has in mind for this country and so do a lot of other people. His ideas are mainstream. So many issues have been neglected for so long that to enumerate them causes one to be called "fringe" or "radical." And that's a mistake.

(3,417 posts)You continue to instill hope that leadership does not require corruption. Recent reporting on the Clinton/DNC contract reveals that it was NOT the document that Donna Brazille described.
That being said, I hope that the DNC implements reforms that make the nominating process Democratic and fair.

(13,133 posts)I would've expected this out of a seven year old kids but I am beginning to think there is not much sanity out there. I have found in my life that if you engage a freak then often the outlook for something coming out of that exchange will often be just more incoherent illogical results.
The person installed in that office is just a freaking nut with just enough tricks to get foolish people to fall into his traps.
