It's just an avalanche. Some of the allegations are quite dated, but it's still disgusting to think these male celebrities figured they were untouchable, while perceiving women around them as entirely touchable!

How do we know it's true? Maybe it is, maybe it isn't. The court of social media isn't exactly something that is always 100% true content.

I’m not defending any of these accusations by posting them. True or not, they’re a PR nightmare, and that’s the venue in which most of these will be dealt with.

the very real obstacles to a 17 year old, even today, let alone decades ago, to accuse a powerful successful man of that kind of behavior.

What nefarious purpose does a woman lying about this serve?

Please let me know your thoughts.

How am I supposed to know? No more than you would know. I see no reason for someone to lie about things like this.

I do know this...people it seems even more so these days in social media seem apt to want the limelight for whatever reason.

This is certainly not to say it didn't happen. But we are all so quick to judge without really knowing anything about the situation or if it even happened.

"I do know this...people it seems even more so these days in social media seem apt to want the limelight for whatever reason. "

These women aren't making this claim in social media are they? So what does this have to do with the topic?

"But we are all so quick to judge without really knowing anything about the situation or if it even happened."

See your post that began with, "The problem is...." for an example of being "quick to judge."

You are defending things that you have no clue as to what you are even defending. Someone makes a claim about sexual harassment from a celebrity years ago and we are supposed to take it at face value that it is 100% true?

Let's cut the crap. Yes it might be true. It might not be true. To defend someone you don't know in a situation that you weren't there you can't say any more than I can say that it is true or not.

Let's cut the crap. Yes they might be seeking publicity. They might not. To label someone you don't know in a situation that you weren't there you can't say any more than I can say that it is publicity seeking or not.

It is a frenzy of people coming out of the woodwork. All seem like legitimate issues. But at some point one of these people will come forward and lie about a celebrity and they will be sued into oblivion. It will happen. Our society is full of people who want to be famous. The fact that many of these accusations are fully accepted at face value with little attempt at independent verification virtually guarantees it.

And what is to prevent someone using the threat of lawsuit (like Cosby did) to silence somone they abused?

That seems far more likely to me. That threat of financial ruin has been used way more on the abused then by them.

I certainly hope that you have learned that.
