with him for this comment
It would be egotistical for anyone to say, I hope he fails, he added. To that person I would say, fuck you. Why would you want that? So you can be right?
Wow I want Trump to fail,
I don't want white nationalism to be the norm
I dont want Tax cuts for the 1%
I don't want a foreign policy that endagers our immediate world
I don't want the climate to be decimated because Climate Change is a "Hoax"
I could go on and on, sadly

(13,390 posts)Especially if his failure extends to suffering for our fellow citizens. I would love to see Trump manage to not fail at diplomacy and avoid war, but I think that is probably a stretch.

(52,253 posts)There are many ways in which he could "fail".
Well, in addition to the many ways he already has failed....
Some of those involve damage, perhaps quite a lot of damage, to many Americans.
So while we want him to fail, we also want him to fail in a way that does minimal collateral damage.
Given the opportunity, I'd ask Cranston to clarify, though one eyebrow is raised....

(4,572 posts)It's clear that he means he doesn't want to see America decline during Trump's term. Equally clear that he despises Trump.

(33,587 posts)If Trump succeeds America fails.
Trump has never had the interest of America at heart.
He will never be a leader that works for the good of the people.
We need Trump to fail, and soon.

(32,886 posts)However, for Trump to succeed, Americans of all races and backgrounds would need to be empowered.
For Trump to succeed, he would have to treat our allies around the world well, and be a statesman.
For Trump to succeed, he would need to care about our system of democracy and the integrity of our elections.
For Trump to succeed, he would need to be on the right side of anthropomorphic climate change.
For Trump to succeed, he would need to be honest and obey the law and demand the same from all in his administration.
You get the idea.
So, yes, I want him to succeed. But he is not going to succeed unless he becomes a Liberal

Were not talking calculus here, this is simple arithmetic.
Thats your opinion which is fine but it is not the only interpretation

(12,816 posts)Sure, he made campaign processes that sounded great. But I doubt anyone who says they hope he fails is referring to what he SAID he was going to do; rather, they hope he fails in doing what he's actually DECIDED to do.

(5,586 posts)I think its safe to say that everyone on this board wants all 5 things you listed in your post to come true. But I dont want one incompetent President to ruin America for the rest of us, and for all time.

Its just astonishing to me. President Trump is not the person who I wanted to be in that office, and Ive been very open about that. That being said, he is the president. If he fails, the country is in jeopardy. It would be egotistical for anyone to say, I hope he fails. To that person I would say, fuck you. Why would you want that? So you can be right?
dont want him to fail. I want him to succeed. I do. I honestly do. And if youve got a good idea that helps the country, oh man, Im gonna support you. I dont care if youre a Republican and Im a Democrat or whatever, I dont care. A good ideas a good idea. Lets do that. Weve got to get away from this idea that our country is political football, and someone with a different opinion is the enemy. Assume they love this country as much as you do, and theres always room for improvement. How can we make it better?

4) It's lovely when they say the things we like; not when they don't.

(92,219 posts)every positive thing President Obama did?
As someone said in another thread, if this was the first few weeks of his presidency that view might be a legitimate argument, but after 11 months of demonstrating exactly who he is, and what he is trying to do, Cranston is off his rocker
