About North Korea ???? War? China's Interest

Above is a link to a map of North Korea, South Korea...and the neighbor to the north of North Korea, China
Take a look, it a small map, but it is clear enough.

Yes, the man who runs North Korea is somewhat difficult. OK. Our country has some difficulties with North Korea and that man. Not a new story. But look to the north of North Korea. There is a line between North Korea and China. China is directly to the north of North Korea. They share a border.

Is it in China's interest for this neighbor to the south, North Korea, to have a war with the United States? China has a huge interest in the area. China has one billion people. Today is 2017, not 1949. China has made progress in the last 68 years. If it is not in China's interest to have North Korea start a war with the United States, then China might do everything possible to prevent that. Does that make sense? You be the judge.
Doing everything possible to prevent a war, means everything Look at the map. And...China does have very strong influence on North Korea. It always has. That is what I believe. Will China try to prevent any kind of war that North Korea gets into? I think that is the truth. China will do everything to prevent such a war because that is in China's own self interest.

I think NK will heed that warning. But if Trump strikes first, it's war.

China is going to do everything they can to prevent a nuclear war just to save their own skins. Also they want to be the only superpower in Asia, so they need to get control of this situation.

Also..Just like we have WWII vets, China has Korean War vets. So does North Korea and South Korea. Lots of people talk big about war. Just talk to the vets, they will tell you the truth.

Even Beijing leaves Shanghai alone to a large extent.
It will not put Shanghai in harm's way.

And yes, China is well aware of the cost of war in terms of Korea and Viet Nam.

It is hard to get any definitive news out of NK, but I run across a number of stories that suggest that many of the people Fat Boy has had executed were people that China had positive views about and would have been the people China looked to to takeover if China were instigate a coup to remove Fat Boy from power.

If China no longer has anyone in NK close enough to Fat Boy to assassinate him, then they will have use their military and risk getting nuked by Fat Boy.

I would put my money of China. But, it will be able to beat NK without using Nukes. I believe if China wanted to start something, it could overwhelm North Korea in many ways. More important, there are so many ways available, the Chinese secret service could probably do it secretly. Hopefully we will never know and it will be never done.

much about political blowback. Yes they would do it covertly and have cover.

If NK is a threat to Shanghai or Beijing they won't hesitate to take care of the matter.

Casualties During Korean War:

According to the data from the U.S. Department of Defense, the United States suffered 33,686 battle deaths, along with 2,830 non-battle deaths, during the Korean War.[269] U.S. battle deaths were 8,516 up to their first engagement with the Chinese on 1 November 1950.[270] South Korea reported some 373,599 civilian and 137,899 military deaths.[16] Western sources estimate the PVA suffered about 400,000 killed and 486,000 wounded, while the KPA suffered 215,000 killed and 303,000 wounded.[32]

Data from official Chinese sources, on the other hand, reported that the Chinese PVA had suffered 114,000 battle deaths, 34,000 non-battle deaths, 340,000 wounded, 7,600 missing and during the war. 7,110 Chinese POWs were repatriated to China.[271] Chinese sources also reported that North Korea had suffered 290,000 casualties, 90,000 captured and a large number of civilian deaths.[271] CNN reported that North Korean civilian casualties were closer to 600,000, while South Korean civilian casualties reached one million.[272]

The Chinese and North Koreans estimated that about 390,000 soldiers from the United States, 660,000 soldiers from South Korea and 29,000 other UN soldiers were "eliminated" from the battlefield.[271]

Recent scholarship puts the full battle death toll on all sides at just over 1.2 million.[273]
