A few days later, Jeffress hosted Fox News personality Sean Hannity at his churchs Sunday service, where he also gave a sermon denouncing the Supreme Court decisions that have allowed for legal abortion and marriage equality and disallowed government-sponsored prayer in schools, which he said will eventually cause the countrys implosion.
Jeffress even linked the 1962 Engle v. Vitale decision on school-sponsored prayer to the numerous allegations of sexual assault against Hollywood producer Harvey Weinstein, saying that what Weinstein is alleged to have done was the natural result of the nation having untethered itself from the absolute truths of Gods word when secularists and infidels removed state-sponsored prayer from schools.

(531 posts)school. Ever. From the youngest of age.
Anyone? And the location. Because it may be only in the south, I do not know.
My father was in the midwest in the 40's-50's and he did not have prayer in school.

(24,380 posts)Madelyn Murray OHair, what I remember is that school sponsored prayer varied wildly nationwide, from none as you experienced to virtually constant and all day in some parts of the country.
The difference between how the school boards in two states next to each other treated the subject - Indiana and Illinois for instance, was dramatic.
Abington v. Schemp, the case Ms. OHair is most known for was from Pennsylvania

(531 posts)There is enough on this board to get a good sampling. I think I will start a thread so I have a better idea where and when the prayer was in schools. Thank you for your information.
