Rubio is on NPR, The Diane Rheem (sp?) Show ...

He strikes me as very articulate, smart and arrogantly intolerate of being challenged.

Rubio had distanced himself from Bachmann and Trents attacks on Huma Abedin, saying he did not know her and did not sign the letter; but that it was Bachmann's right as a Legislator to say what she wants ... the electorate, if they are offended by it, will sort it out. He also said that he feels no obligation to "wade in on every comment or action of every legislator", even though he might disagree with the comment (as he does in this case ... I guess - he never really said ... since he did not sign the letter.

A caller called in asking whether, if he had been around during the McCarthy Era, he would have taken the same hands off approach.

Rubio responded that that was different, McCarthy called for hearings; whereas, this was a single letter, signed by a few legislators and widely criticized by others. That's the difference.

This kind of set Diane off ... She said that she was around during the McCarthy era and said this is exactly how it all started ... the (unfounded) accusations of a single Senator.

And Rubio basically told her "You don't know what you are talking about. That's different and that's the end of it."

Diane was clearly upset/disappointed, but changed the topic by taking another call.

And it didn't get any better. The next caller spoke with a thick East Indian accent and asked a question about his immigration stance, that I had no problem understanding and apparently neither did Diane.

Rubio's response to the question was a curt, "I didn't understand what the caller said."

he strikes me in precisely the same way. I gotta say though that I don't think his comments on the Bachmann/Abedin affair were very smart at all.

Diane Rehm is polite, but she does not suffer fools gladly.

Rubio, sounds like, showed his true colors.

and I kept hearing Rubio's voice and thinking it reminded me of George Zimmerman.

It was really frustrating... when he spoke calmly his voice had the quality and cadence of Zimmerman to my ear.

Maybe it's just me, or it could be because I was reading about Zimmermans interview with Hannity this am.

I did like how Diane wouldn't let him bully her into dropping her point about McCarthy. She's and excellent host and interviewer imo.
