Trump, as godawful as he is, is only a distraction. That's the real nightmare.

The White House circus, and his lunacy, are actually helping the country is a perverse way--it's distracting the GOP from its agenda. And *they* are the greater danger. In Congress, in the courts, and most of all, maybe, in the state houses. We are not all that far from a constitutional "convention" that would, quite literally, destroy the United States as a liberal democracy. God knows what would happen then. Add a couple more Gorsuches to the Supreme Court, and the process would be complete. We would resemble Chile under Pinochet, though with a Disney veneer. And we will have done it to ourselves.
