We may get a hint at how the elections might go in 2018 if Republicans maintain the status quo?
I'm sure the Republicans are watching these races very closely. If the races are close, nothing will change. If the Democrat in either state wins by a large margin, it could be panic city for many Republicans.

(481 posts)Though no GOP will not turn on Trump if they lose both governorships. We will have to wait until the 2018 midterms before we reach that point.

Virginia governor is a free swing for Republicans. They'll laugh and rejoice if we fail.
The Virginia legislature is another matter, as emphasized in a previous post. Democrats have tried and failed there recently. That's our best chance to see if Trump's low approval ratings and independents shifting away from him might impact the House and local races next year.
