He tried to get Palin elected VP.
What does that say about his judgement and character?

I like Steve Schmidt but he was a part of the system that got Trump installed. He needs to switch parties if he is sincere.

Yes I think so in terms of penance. And so they should atone.
Bringing along Palin, a stupid clown, was an insult to the office they say they
hold dear.

The night of one of the debates, I think it was the the third, between Hillary and Trump,
Steve Schmidt was livid when Trump brought out Bill Clinton's accusers. I thought Steve was
going to have a heart attack on air. His hatred of Trump was palpable.
And Steve has never wavered.

I like him, wish he could come in from the dark side, and become a Dem.

knowledge, empathy, curiosity, morality, sense of justice, intelligence, honesty, tact, class, thoughtful consideration, etc.. That's fine.

But at some point they need to make the jump from that to how bereft of morality, logic, justice, function, substance, fairness, truth, accuracy, and effectiveness his policies and the GOP POLICIES are. There's a direct line available...a man and party who care about only ONE THING (benefitting themselves and their wealthy donors) cannot develop policies that are about all the other things we all care about.

Trump, the GOP, and immoral policies are all of one piece...the least important of which is Trump's twitter spat with Corker and McCain.

Yes, he lies and is an ignorant buffoon. That's not worth debating...should be taken as assumed at this point. Why can't the media draw a line between his malignant, sociopathic, narcissistic joy when punching down on widows, people of color, people in need, people other than his family, other countries, etc. on the one hand and his immoral, unjust, unfair policies that negatively affect the vulnerable 90% of americans? He's been punching down at INDIVIDUALS with glee and malice...and now through his policies and legislation he's trying to do the same on a massive scale...

How can pundits rip his personality/style as poisonous and his knowledge flawed but turn around and discuss his policies as though they come from a good place?

Corker and Flake are happy to express concern about his style and his mistakes...but stop well short of wondering out loud how and why they share policy goals with a sociopath. Hopefully that's the next step.
