Zimmerman: Trayvon’s death was “God’s plan”

BY FRANCES ROBLES

After saying he did not regret any of his actions the night he killed Trayvon Martin, George Zimmerman backtracked and apologized to America Wednesday night in his first interview since the shooting that polarized the nation nearly five months ago.

In an apparent attempt at damage control just two days after a cousin’s sexual molestation charges went public, Zimmerman broke his silence in an exclusive interview with Fox News conservative talk show host Sean Hannity. His lawyer, Mark O’Mara, sat beside him as Zimmerman recounted the Sunday night that he encountered a hoodie-clad black teenager who walked too leisurely in the rain.

Asked if he regretted getting out of the car that night or owning a gun, Zimmerman said no. Asked if he would do anything differently, Zimmerman said no a third time, and added that Trayvon’s death was “God’s plan.”

"it was a chaotic situation" "it spiraled out of control" "nobody could have foreseen"

The implication that there was an orderly 'plan' (euphemistically or otherwise) is a poor, poor choice of words. Of course, his even being able to utter such a cruel, cold thing also adds to his "asshole" "tough guy" image that, again, will damage his image in court.

fuckin asshole.

I think he can pretty much expect the maximum after uttering that gem.

If O'Mara isn't looking for some way to quit as Zim's lawyer he's a fool. They both totally removed any possibility for a change of venue by giving a national interview.

I don't believe a word out of Zim's mouth.

He'd have been much better off saying "yes I do regret getting out of my car against the dispatcher's orders." This "God's plan" crap won't fly with the non-religious and may offend some religious people.

It so wreaks of not taking any responsibility for his actions.
