5 teens to be charged with murder after man killed by thrown rock on I-75 (Clio, MI)

We've had a lot of awful things happen in the Flint, MI area, but this one resonates with everyone who drives the freeways.
These individuals brought a sizable supply of large rocks to the overpass, with the sole intent of causing damage to innocent drivers. I am surprised this was the only fatality.

GENESEE COUNTY, MI (WNEM) -
The Genesee County Prosecutor's Office is going to charge five teenagers in connection to the death of a man who was killed by a rock thrown on I-75.

All five of them will be charged as adults, Prosecutor David Leyton said.

They will be charged with one count of second-degree murder (which is punishable by up to life in prison), one count of conspiracy to commit second-degree murder, six felony counts of malicious destruction of property and two misdemeanor counts of malicious destruction of property.

“I don’t think this was a deliberate attempt to take somebody’s life. It was a willful and wanton act that resulted in somebody’s death. These people should have known better,” Leyton said. “Under Michigan law that is second-degree murder.”

I can already see their parents at sentencing. My little boy is so sorry, please don't take his life away to. He was just following the others, they thought it was simple fun. Blah blah blah..

Should have raised your kid better dipshit.

He said they didn't show them in their 'best light', like when they are at home, interacting with their families.

These weren't small rocks that they were throwing. Earlier in the evening they tossed a tire onto the roadway. I understand that these kids are young, but that 17 year old who threw the fatal rock, is plenty old enough to understand the possible consequences of what they were dong. They all deserved to be punished, that's for sure, but I won't be surprised of the charges on some of the others are lowered.

Throwing anything off of an overpass, onto traffic lanes, should be a serious felony - whether or not a car is damaged or someone is injured or killed. It is never NOT malicious.

They can rot in jail.

If their families have money though, they’ll be out in no time.

these scummy low-lifes** are being tried as adults. I hope they get the max (they won't; you know that), and that they CRY and CRY and CRY.

No doubt their attorneys will try to mitigate with some family related trauma.
