But Schock's defense team say ruling 'is great news.'

A federal judge in Illinois on Monday let stand the vast majority of the indictment against former GOP Rep. Aaron Schock, refusing a defense request to dismiss the charges.
However, U.S. District Judge Colin Bruce threw out two of the 24 counts against Schock, which followed an earlier ruling where the judge agreed with the defense team that federal prosecutors had not been candid about their dealings with the grand jury that charged the one-time Republican rising star. Schock was indicted in November 2016 on a variety of corruption charges, including wire fraud, mail fraud, filing false federal tax returns, submitting inaccurate reports to the Federal Election Commission, making false statements, and theft of government funds.
The Justice Department asserts that Schock pocketed tens of thousands of dollars in improper mileage reimbursements, camera equipment, and proceeds from selling tickets to the World Series and Super Bowl, among other allegations.
Schock, who resigned from Congress in March 2015 in the midst of the federal criminal probe, has adamantly denied any wrongdoing.
