Ann Romney: "We’ve given all you people need to know and understand about our financial situation."

http://www.politico.com/news/stories/0712/78711.html

Ann Romney dismissed concerns about her husband’s tax returns Thursday, contending that the two of them have “given all you people need to know.”

“You know, you should really look at where Mitt has led his life, and where he’s been financially,” the potential First Lady said on ABC’s “Good Morning America.” “He’s a very generous person. We give 10 percent of our income to our church every year. Do you think that is the kind of person who is trying to hide things, or do things? No. He is so good about it. Then, when he was governor of Massachusetts, didn’t take a salary for four years.”

“We’ve given all you people need to know and understand about our financial situation and how we live our life,” she added later.

Typically the therapy part of having a therapy animal is riding, grooming, caring for, having a relationship with the animal that stretches the limits of your body and cements the bonds of a relationship.

If Rafalca was standing in themiddle of a field and Anne Romney was at one end calling and the paid groom/trainer/stable hand at the other, who do you think the horse would go to?

LM is one of my favorite all-time villainesses in literature No matter what one thinks of LM (and Macbeth clearly loves her), she has class.

Ann Romney is more akin to Mrs. Malaprop (from Sheridan's "The Rivals&quot or maybe, for cruelty, Joe's first wife (from Dickens' "Great Expectations&quot .

Ann Romney: Screw Noblesse Oblige

Now I know I’m not supposed to talk about Ann Romney because the Republicans never, ever, in any way whatsoever speak ill of Michelle Obama, now or ever.

Flip it! I’m sick to death of dancing horses, car elevators, and God-only-knows how many houses while her husband espouses taking health care away from little children and lowering the minimum wage. I do not begrudge her wealth. I begrudge how she got that wealth and her damn arrogance about it. She got that wealth by robbing the middle class of their jobs.

And, now she’s done it. You people? Did Ann Romney just refer to the rest of America, including damn near everybody in the GOP, as “you people?”

Oh, have pity on us, Ann, we of the not-rich. The peons. The workers. The people who clean your house and handmake your cars and your clothes.

If it's revealed that he gives only 10%, the LDS church won't be happy either. So, two more reasons that he's reluctant to release financial info. And "you people" vote, Annie dear.

While Ann is a shit, Barbara is evil shit. What she said about Katrina being a boon for the people in New Orleans - unforgivable. Barbara is also worse because she is a total tool and hypocrite - pro choice woman who totally changes her tune when hubby is running for national office. I really dislike her more than I can say.

Ann Romney calls those demanding more of the Romneys' tax returns "you people". Condescending much, Mrs. Romney?

Someone should inform Mrs. Romney if "us people" are going to pay their hard-earned tax dollars for The Romneys to live in OUR White House and pay their salaries, then "us people" are essentially their •employers•.

If The Romneys don't want to submit to a financial background check + drug test & other vetting that employers typically do before hiring, then The Romneys shouldn't get the JOB.

"Us people" would be fine w/ that.

I don't even think she said "you people". I think she said "you" and changed it to "people". There was nothing objectionable in what she said or the way she said it. Mitt is the one making the decision, which I disagree with, and she went out there and supported the decision, understandably, in an unremarkable way.

And this does match the elitism shown by such remarks as the "It's our turn now" comment she made following her husband's "start packing" message for President Obama:

Being an elitist in support of her husband does not make her any less of an elitist.

Thu Jul 19, 2012, 10:09 AM

Let's parse her statement:

(1) Very generous - 10% to his church
That is probably true because of the LDS Church's tithing requirement. If you look, however, at how that money is then spent by his church, the "generosity" becomes less clear. Mormons do have a tremendous social support structure in that they help members of the Church to a degree possibly not seen in other U.S. churches.

But they use a lot of that money to buy and run expansive businesses. And then there is their charitable "hate" giving such as their bankrolling in the Prop 8 campaign in California.

(2) No salary as Governor
I would be interested to see if he was still secretly CEO of Bain Capital while he was governor. If he was collecting a handsome salary as CEO then he probably didn't need a salary as governor.

But let's be clear, I have no doubt that Mittens used his governorship to establish credentials as an elected official to springboard a run for President (in his father's footsteps). After his tenure as governor he made a failed attempt for U.S. Senate against Teddy. And since 2006 he has been running for President.

(3) "You People"
Ann, you don't get to decide what information we need to know and understand when Mittens' entire campaign is on how he can turn the economy around. If he committed one or more crimes we need to know. If he oversaw a company that routinely off shored American jobs, we need to know. It is possible to have a good view into someone's character by watching how they conduct business, how far they push the legal envelope, etc. in the name of wealth.

So Ann, enjoy the Olympics. We wouldn't be too sad if you decided to stay there. You do know the Queen is quite fond of horses. Maybe you could get a job.

Let's look at the simple psychology of it. By her use of "you people," Mrs. Romney indicates that she is Other. She believes that she does not belong in the mass of ordinary Americans. Indeed, she inhabits a rarefied Other world in which "people" are mere tools to attend to her whims.

Damn, that expression gets my back up. IMO, it is 110% dog whistle.

Still stunned by their absolute arrogance. It is truly arrogance that "you people" are seeing.

You spend your entire life screwing over the people, plants, animals and environment of this world and then claim we just don't get it.
Well fuck you! I get it! Your the standard 'I got mine. Fuck you." Wall St loving American I see every day of my life. Your the one who leads to more & more speculation of the only things still left worth saving on this planet. Your the ones who are literally sucking the life out of the next generations who will have to live in your mess. Your the ones who history will point the finger at as being the driver behind climate change, famine and acidic oceans. Your the ones whose place is only becoming more concrete with every blood dollar you draw from tomorrows children.
Your position is all but assured. Your legacy is death. Your god is greed. Your heart is cold as ice. The world will sing when your ilk are absent. When polar bears, salmon, bald eagles & every other imaginable creature that suffers from your wanton disregard for anything but your own wealth can live in peace. When we can start to rebuild the earth to actually make it a place a baby would like to be born in and not a hellish corporate abyss of money over liberty, dividends over justice, options over freedom. Lot of good people died striving to create this land we live in and claim to love. They would be sickened and ashamed at what we have done with it.

The fact that the Mormon church demands a 10% tithe is well known to anyone who cares to know anything about Mormons. As for not taking a salary... Ann... do you know what a PR stunt is? You should, after all, being of the elite class in this Country... be a little bit more educated than us people. Perhaps you could direct some of your (or your husband's) great wealth towards the furthering of your education... or the beginning of it. Whatever the case may be.
