Happy to have something happy to post!
Everybody needs someone to love. Noras previous owners had abused the pup to the point where shes now scared to death of every living being except one toddler. We got our girl Nora, an English Pointer, from a rescue shelter seven years ago prior to having kids, her owner Elizabeth told Bored Panda. Despite having come from an abusive situation her sweet and gentle nature shone through and we knew with certainty she would be a wonderful family dog when the time came. She absolutely did not disappoint!
Elizabeths family is definitely on the bigger side. She and her husband have 3 kids, 3 rescue cats, 3 rescue dogs. Aside from being in love with the number 3, Elizabeth adores the relationship between her son Archie and their pup Nora. Archie is an extremely laid-back, happy, good-natured baby and all the animals seem to really respond to that, particularly Nora, Spence told the Dodo. She came from an abusive background and is afraid of almost everything. Not Archie, though. She absolutely adores him!
The duo is inseparable. If Archie is having a bath, Nora is lying on the bath mat waiting for him to get out. If Im nursing him she wants up on my lap, too. Luckily, she documents their incredible bond and shares it on Instagram where nearly 100,000 people are following the heartwarming friendship.

(575 posts)Spencer was a puppy in - I think N. Carolina - where he was barely fed and terribly treated. And his owner botched his ears in a home crop job.
Spencer is a Dobbie.
They think Spencer managed to run away from his abuser. While looking for food he started eating some road kill on a busy highway, got hit and broke his back.
Rescue Dogs Rock felt they could save him and repair his back.
After the surgery he was up rehabbing the next day and for a month after.
Then he got adopted by a couple who adopted from them before.
Spencer finished his therapy, Has a bff in Pancakes, the other dog they adopted last yuear.
And Spencer has the ultimate home. Big back yard to run in, beautiful home, lovely couple who adores him.
He is living the life in Maryland.
Check out his page on FB at Spectacular Spencer

(575 posts)If a dog is abused enough they can be terribly traumatized.
This baby is like a therapy baby to this dog because she looks to him for comfort and safety.
This little one's essence is special.

(6,696 posts)Obviously the doggies loves and trusts the adults in this household as well. Otherwise would not be permitted around the baby.
I am happy for the doggie and the family.
I am not happy about poor reporting of the facts.

(5,737 posts)I have great reservations about putting an animal's face right up to a baby's face. Especially an animal that has been abused. The child's welfare has to come first and this is an unnecessary risk injury or disease. Not worth it for the sake of a few cute pictures.

(37,648 posts)The reason I ask is that I have a dog that looks almost identical. I found her in the neighborhood as a pup. Except the ears on mine are prick instead of hanging. And mine has short legs, not regular length legs. Other than that, they could be twins.

(22,651 posts)one of my dogs was a 3 yr old 'street dog' in macon, Ga. Animal control caught "Jimmy" with those wire poles & put him in Spaulding animal control. Skin & bones, he was in dog pound for 10 days huddled in a corner scared & sick. That's a gassing dog pound.
Happened to look online at "last day dogs" and broke my heart to see that dog huddled in a corner. On spur of the moment I called them and said, I want that dog. And so it was, Jimmy had to spend a month in a Georgia Vet clinic before he was decent/healthy enough to fly to Texas. Jimmy is about 12ish? maybe older now. Never been aggressive, still flinches if a person he doesn't know very well touches him but he LOVES me, so devoted, a very good & clean dog and grateful to just be a dog with a home & people.
So very few animals on earth who want to be, prefer to be-companions to man we have dogs & horses, maybe some cats. They deserve our help, protection and Love.

Just flipped through the shots at the site with my husband and he said,
'Don't think anyone will ever go after this child. Without losing an arm.'
I grew up with a very protective collie. These photos made me remember the comfort, the sweetness of that totally loyal, never flinching companionship. I always believed I had a Guardian Angel. With 4 legs.
