I had a patient recently that is a "Dreamer"

He doesn't speak Spanish. He is terrified of being sent "home".
He needs a life-enhancing surgery that there is a 6-month waiting list for.
This surgery is only available in the US in 3 institutions.
He is terrified that he won't get his surgery before he is sent "home".
This young man lives in terror because of trump.
It is hard to believe that ONE year ago it was impossible to believe that we would be here.

I will tell you it is considered a medically necessary surgery. He is registered, he complies.
And he is terrified he is going to be sent back. His terror is not unjustified if HE feels the threat.
Nice try.

that this young man was raised as an American. America is the only country he knows. He only speaks English. And he lives in fear of being deported.

I find the coldness in your posts on this thread astounding.

I am hoping we can find a way to squeeze him in--there is such a demand for this procedure and people have been waiting for months for their turn--it's just a sad situation. The surgeon said if someone cancels or postpones--he is to be moved up.

According to human rights, he cannot be deported. The right to get medical care is a universal principle, which means it is above laws. It is not really my field of competence but it might be considered criminal to deport your patient.

Do you have an organisation or a lawyer who are involved in those matters ?

Or simply on the net, ask an organization. They will give you helpful informations.

I'm almost sure you patient cannot be deported, at least the time he needs medical help. Especially if he cannot get the surgery in his country of origin.

Not sure I'm very clear, I can explain in French and ask a member who is bilingual to translate.

How can this scumbag be so heartless ?

In addition to his bottomless stupidity ! So many studies have shown how much dreamers were worthy besides the appaling cruelty of deporting someone who only knows the country from which he is kicked !

That disgusting waste cannot be human !

this is perhaps a very good suggestion.
The surgeon would be on board with this.
Hopefully we will be able to move him up on the schedule. That would be the ideal thing.
Thank you.

I can't understand how the republicans can be so cruel. I am so sorry for your patient and he is only one of many who will suffer because of this sick, heartless law. We need to vote them out. More stories like this need to get out so that people can see the wreckage that this administration is causing.

country because of this administration I really feel for those of you who became part of the medical care system to help others are now being told they can't. I am sorry for you and your patient and hope you can find a solution before it is to late.
