(13,466 posts)Of course he will. I have more doubts about General Kelly's motives than many. He will do what it takes to try to make Trump look better, IMO.

Maybe our own.
Whether we live in an urban area, commuter subdivision, or rural area, Puerto Rico has made me realize that virtually ALL of us live on an island when it comes to food, water, shelter, and medicine. Winter's coming too.

(58,785 posts)As of this morning hundreds of bed on the Navy ship Comfort in San Juan Harbor were still empty. Someone's blaming "communication," but within 10 minutes of NOT being informed of an expected influx of patients the commander would have fixed that.
It's Rump.

(10,749 posts)As another poster commented the other day, Kelly is no mr. nice guy. He was the impetus for the DHS push to arrest every Hispanic person in the US when he headed DHS for a short while. The fact that such an extremist was such a senior military officer is more than a little troubling. He may (or may not) support the policies of this administration, such as they are, but as long as he is where he is, he is certainly an enabler. He has no power over his boss, and I no longer buy the narrative that he and Mattis are in place to wrestle the buffoon to the ground to keep the football out of this hands.
He may not appreciate the politicization of his son's death and this entire shameful episode, but if he stays in place, he is tacitly supporting the shameful and vile views of his boss.
No parent, not even a military parent, should bury his own child. It's every parent's greatest fear. But this particular parent - Kelly - is in the public eye, and what he does and says means something. And his failure to respond - and to do so would require him to resign - says more than anything.

It's crazy.
