It shows the development of the behavioral crimes unit of the FBI in the 70s and the serial killers who were interviewed. What fascinated me was the description of the behavior of sociopaths and psychopaths. I couldnt help making parallels to Trump. If you watch it I would like to hear comments. Lieing seems to be common no matter what, across all killers, including making up lies when the interviewers get too close to the truth.

(9,291 posts)If you're interested, get the FBI classification manual. Everything you're curious about, including Trumps criminality will be there. Actually, it's something to consider when meeting anyone in this world.

(38,002 posts)I still have to watch the last episode of the season but I'm holding off because I don't want to wait however long it takes Netflix to produce another season.
The statement by the Psychologist character - that sociopaths have feelings, they just don't think other people have them. That was an intriguing insight.

(3 posts)This book goes over the history of the FBI behavioral analysis unit by one of the founders, Robert Ressler. John Douglas was the other founder who wrote the book 'Mindhunter' also very good. I thought the series was incredibly well done and avoided a lot of cliches. It seemed to stick closely to Resslers book. Obviously they are setting up the next season to focus on the BTK killer Dennis Rader (those were the Park City scenes). I was especially impressed by the actor that played Ed Kemper. The series got his look right on - spooky. I do believe serial killers have feelings and can even recognize them in others, they are just really good at turning it off. I'm most interested by the cravings they have to kill that seem to build up over time, it is difficult for me to understand that.

One thing I noticed about the serial killers interviewed: There's a complete lack of empathy; an inability to feel anything at all for their victims. Just like Trump. (And we're all his victims.)
