Wow. Spurs Coach Gregg Popovich "This man in the Oval Office is a soulless coward..."

San Antonio Spurs Head Coach Gregg Popovitch spoke out today on drumpf’s silence on the fallen soldiers in Niger. And, boy, did he speak.

The Nation: — Dave Zirin:

“We’ve all seen San Antonio Spurs’ future Hall of Fame coach Gregg Popovich in a state of exasperation on the sidelines, or in post-game news conferences. Many of us have also heard him speak with great vexation and clarity about the direction of this country and the actions of Donald Trump, particularly on Trump’s “disgusting tenor and tone and all the comments that have been xenophobic, homophobic, racist, misogynistic.” But I have never heard this man so frustrated, so fed up, and so tense with anger than today.

Here is what he expressed:

Coach Pop:

“I’ve been amazed and disappointed by so much of what this President had said, and his approach to running this country, which seems to be one of just a never ending divisiveness. But his comments today about those who have lost loved ones in times of war and his lies that previous presidents Obama and Bush never contacted their families, is so beyond the pale, I almost don’t have the words.

This man in the Oval Office is a soulless coward who thinks that he can only become large by belittling others. This has of course been a common practice of his, but to do it in this manner–and to lie about how previous Presidents responded to the deaths of soldiers–is as low as it gets. We have a pathological liar in the White House: unfit intellectually, emotionally, and psychologically to hold this office and the whole world knows it, especially those around him every day. The people who work with this President should be ashamed because they know it better than anyone just how unfit he is, and yet they choose to do nothing about it. This is their shame most of all.”

in the league.

The ironic thing about his outspokenness on trump is that he's famous for his reticent answers to court side reporters during game telecasts.

With trump he doesn't bite his tongue.

He views his position more as a facilitator of his player's skills, and to be their strategic goal-line "eyes" on the court to be aware of patterns of play while they keep their heads in the game. He went to the Air force Academy as both a ball player and an intelligence officer, spent a lot of time in uniform in Europe, and learned a lot about geo-politics, leadership and strategy. (He used to be called "CIA Pop" because rumor has it he was once considered for CIA employment).
He's not just a "jock" - he actually served for 9 years during the Cold War doing international intelligence gathering.

and demand they get Trump the hell out of the White House before he completely ruins the party and the U.S. Get Congress busy building a solid case to impeach or kick out for health reasons. We are beginning to see more people turn their backs on him in protest. If the GOP wants them back, they'd best heed the warnings or they'll never regain those members who still seem to have their heads on straight (aside from voting for him in the first place).

I would never be a Republican as their party is so messed up, but we DO need a two party system. After this fiasco, I can't imagine they will ever win a majority again.

They elected this monster. They consort with and abet him in spite of his deepening depravity.

I share your concern and frustration.

But these are fiends and friends alike. Can we honestly say "they" really won a majority? Or have these saboteurs obstructed the vote, colluded with foreign powers, and gerrymandered their way to an illusory majority?

Will the Democratic Party get its ASS in gear and sound the clarion call to save the nation? After all, that is really what is at stake. Or, years hence, will history note how this republic died due to party infighting and ineptitude in the face of an all-out assault--funded by the most privileged and wealthy--on our nation's government, culture, law, and justice?

"One nation, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all" is dying--or is it already dead?

Not only are we encumbered by the Republican majority, but it appears our Democratic congresscritters are working more diligently to raise campaign funds than blocking the shenanigans on the other side of the aisle. As soon as one election is over, they are raising funds for the next one.

Any time I see a Republican grinning, I become very concerned. They wouldn't know the meaning of the word shame even if they tripped over it. In fact, I think they thrive when they know they have gotten by with another one of their tricks.

Citizens United needs to go and our election problems need to be totally brought out into the sunlight. Until that happens, I can't see an end to the Republican takeover.

We're screwn!
