... just said about Trump: "This man has the empathy of a cockroach."
That pretty well sums it up.

(51,607 posts)I had a smile on my face for a few minutes as I ripped my chicken apart (de-boning it).

(22,037 posts)No joke. I once watched Miss Julia Child remove all the bones from a chicken while keeping all of the meat in place. She referred to this process as "boning the bird" which I thought was hysterical. Then she stuffed it with ham, cheese and herbs. After roasting it, it was like a chicken loaf cordon bleu. Of course, I had to try to make it and it was delicious. The mess, however, took two days to clean up. Never again.

(51,607 posts)watched original Julia Child on TV and is a great cook. The first sentence my niece said was, "Nana is an excellent cooker" which she learned from my dad. My sister and I had chores after school and one was "de-bone the chicken" so I always call it that.

P.S. Lord Fatass is an embarrassment to cockroaches everywhere.

(51,607 posts)and Julia wrote, "Chicken legs may be boned and stuffed..." so I think you are correct.

(12,448 posts)that's too much like work. I can chop up a chicken, but the bones are left where they should be.

(22,037 posts)Of course, when Miss Julia did it, it was elegant and spotless!
Tasted awesome but I won't do that again.

(12,858 posts)Empathy from Greek - em=with, pathy=suffer
Soooo...suffer with
Compassion from Latin - com=with, passion=suffer
Soooo...suffer with
Trump is unable to 'suffer with' anyone.

(12,858 posts)I've spent years studying, teaching German. I learned the meaning of compassion from the German word 'Mitleid,' mit=with, Leid=suffering. When I saw that, I looked up the etmology of compassion and then that of empathy.
German is a fun language - Finger is finger and Hut is hat. Sooo...Fingerhut (hat for the finger) is thimble. And Baum is tree and Wolle is wool. Sooo...Baumwolle (tree wool) is cotton.
