At least six people were injured Sunday night after an oil rig exploded in Louisiana. Police said one person was missing after the blast in Lake Pontchartrain and the number of those hurt in the incident is expected to rise, The Times-Picayunereports. Rescue crews have been sent to the scene, with the Coast Guard and Louisiana Wildlife and Fisheries among at least six agencies joining in rescue efforts. Photos from the scene showed dozens of police cars, firetrucks, and ambulances in the area, and nearby residents said the explosion shook their homes. Kenner Police Department spokesman Sgt. Brian McGregor said no fatalities have been reported yet but the injuries were serious. No further details have been given on the condition of those injured. The oil rig is reportedly in production and owned by Clovelly Oil Co., a New Orleans-based company.
