RW Jesus - a New Messiah for the Trumpian Age

If you grew up believing in the Jesus Christ of the New Testament, it’s time to catch up. That Son of God no longer exists for millions of RW “Christians”. He’s been replaced by a new-and-improved saviour who has absolutely no resemblance to the Jesus of bygone days.

Christ’s admonitions to feed the hungry, house the homeless, and care for sick? Gone, gone, and gone – replaced with a new theology that dictates the hungry, homeless and sick should fend for themselves, and tough shit if they can’t. Being your brother’s keeper simply no longer applies; in fact, it has become anathema to those who purport to follow in His footsteps and live by His word.

The Jesus who once warned against false prophets is now the Lord of True Profiteers. Those who were told to give up their worldly possessions in order to follow him now live in multi-million-dollar homes, and live large on the tax-free dollars they extract from gullible congregations urged to “give until it hurts” in order to fund the lifestyles of the Rich & Infamous.

You might have grown up with the now-discarded Jesus who taught us to love our neighbours – a concept now considered old school claptrap. RW Jesus has no problem with hating your black neighbours, your Muslim neighbours, your poor neighbours, your gay neighbours – and any other neighbours you feel more comfortable hating than loving.

For decades, we have watched RW “Christians” ignore their own loftier-than-thou principles when politically convenient. While damning adultery, they unhesitatingly vote for Republicans who divorce wives in order to marry their long-time mistresses – often more than once. While denouncing those who don’t adhere to the teachings of The Nazarene, they simply looked the other way when Republican politicians railed against feeding the hungry and sheltering the homeless, and encouraged them to see those in need not as the brothers who Jesus taught them to care for, but as parasites unworthy of notice.

But with their support of Trump, the RW “Christians” went much further than merely looking the other way – it was a complete abandonment of their heretofore proudly-touted principles. When Republicans asked the RW Christians to choose between Jesus and Trump, they responded immediately: “Give us the lying, racist, pussy-grabbing, serial adulterer who built his business empire by cheating workers out of their pay and investors out of their money!” – thereby condemning the Jesus they allegedly worship to being crucified yet another time.

Trump is the present-day version of the Golden Calf. He represents everything Jesus admonished his followers to abhor – greed, immorality, lying, cheating, stealing, arrogance, and placing himself above the law of God. And yet the RW “Christians” bow low before their idol, and proclaim him as an alternative god while he spews alternative facts.

The break from the Biblical Jesus is now complete. In Trump, RW “Christians” have found someone more in keeping with their own beliefs: someone who despises who they despise, someone who encourages violence towards those they disagree with, someone who wants to see the sick, the hungry and the homeless die – and above all, a hypocrite that appeals to the hypocrisy of those who paid lip-service to being loving followers of Christ, when what they really wanted all along was the freedom to openly hate.

When so-called “Christians” applaud policies that deny assistance to the most vulnerable among us – the hungry, the homeless, the sick – they are no longer Christians. They are Trumpians, worshipping a “god” who has successfully replaced Jesus in their minds and hearts.

When so-called “Christians” support a man whose life’s history is a blatant example of anti-Christian principles, they are no longer Christians – they are Trumpians, determined to spread the gospel of a man who demonstrates his disdain for true Christian values on a daily basis.

When so-called “Christians” praise a so-called “pResident” for golfing while their fellow citizens in Puerto Rico sicken and die for lack of aid, they are no longer Christians – they are Trumpians who are ecstatic that their lack of concern for others is being vindicated by the lack of concern demonstrated by their new-found god.

Trump is the epitome of anti-Christian beliefs. And those who follow him, elected him and support him are equally anti-Christian. There is no coming back from that position.

RW “Christians” have now shown who they really are – people not only willing to throw Jesus under the bus, but are more than willing to serve their newly-appointed god, who is the antithesis of everything they once claimed to be the very foundation of their faith.

You’re either a Christian or you’re a Trumpian. There is no common ground between the two – you are either one or the other; you can’t be both. You either stand with the Jesus you once purported to worship – or you stand with a “pResident” who commands you to abandon your faith and worship him instead.

It is too late to say “pick a side” – as you RW “Christians” have already done so. You have chosen to get on your knees and pray to the Golden Calf who despises the teachings of Jesus, and seeks to abolish those teachings in order to spread the gospel of hatred, intolerance, and revenge.

There is no such thing as a “RW Christian”. They are simply Trumpians who have feigned allegiance to Jesus Christ only to deny Him in the end, in hopes of collecting their thirty pieces of silver before they’re exposed for who they really are – and have been all along.

Poor, sick, in prison, etc. Your own damn fault, pull yourself up by your bootstraps.

But if you rob someone for money to buy food, institute capital punishment....even if the Mosaic Law wasn't as cruel and allowed deference to the poor.

.....

It's a far cry from "sell all your possessions", the "WOMAN" who gave two pennies gave more than the men, "he who is without sin, cast the first stone"...and Christ was without sin, and cast no stones, etc.

It used to be enough that if you were a Republican, all you had to do was not be a Democrat.

Then you had to become a free market Republican.

Then a Trickle-down Supply Side Republican.

Then you had to be a Conservative Republican.

Then you had to be a Movement Conservative Republican.

Now, you have to be an Evangelical Christian, RW, Alt-Right, Movement Conservative Republican if you don't want to lose a primary in Alabama, who knows where else.

This needs to get out to someone who will make it public, everyone should read, or have someone read it to them. The truth so well explained. How can Rachel Maddow get her hands on it?

Nance, you are truly a great writer, and a truth teller.
