These 9 months have shown just how good Pelosi and Reid were at their jobs.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_acts_of_the_111th_United_States_Congress

Major laws passed were the Lilly Ledbetter Act, TARP, Homeowners relief act, supplimental appropriations, renewal of SCHIP, a public service expansion, and a few others. For all of these Reid needed all of his side plus some GOP members. Obama's Administration was also fully staffed despite needing to overcome filibusters. Reid did this with a caucus that had some very conservative members such as Nelson of Nebraska. McConnel is a good oppositional leader but he has been nothing short of awful at governing. Reid was amazing at both. He made it look so easy it is easy to forget just how skilled he was.

Pelosi, while she didn't need to unite her entire caucus, had some very, very conservative members. She never lost a vote she held and she didn't have the ability to use the Koch brothers to discipline her caucus like Ryan can his.

I'm sure there are dozens of other so-called Dems who need a kick in the ass to set them straight about Pelosi.

But, seemingly, Ryan has bigger fish to fry. He's not sure he's running for pres in 2020 while preparing to do exactly that unless he gets pushed out before he even starts. That's what all that corporate tax cut business is all about.

decent legislation. Their expertise is destroying existing legislation that has proven to be beneficial for the majority of Americans.

it is just that the job really is a whole lot harder than many of us thought with how easy Reid made it look. McConnel is nobody's fool or incompetent but he isn't Reid either.

that actually helped people. The Obama administration was very prepared for nominations and played it very safe. McConnell and Ryan are forced to deal with an unpopular, mad man that just demands bills be passed and throws crappy nominees at them. They're trying to take healthcare AWAY from people and I'm actually surprised they have come as close as they have.

Reid and Pelosi were better at their jobs as far as being prepared and doing their homework on legislation. They weren't prepared for the tea party and the backlash. They definitely needed better messaging. Hindsight....
