General Discussion
Related: Editorials & Other Articles, Issue Forums, Alliance Forums, Region ForumsI just heard that we lost my brother this afternoon.
He had been very ill and was in the liver transplant program at UCLA Medical Center, but his condition simply was not good enough to survive until that could happen. I'll be flying out to California sometime this week for his memorial service and to provide whatever comfort I can to the rest of the family.
It's very hard to lose your younger brother. He was only 67 years old. It is a sad, sad time for everyone who knew him, and especially for my sister and I. My parents, who are 92 and 93 years old, are heartbroken.

(63,912 posts)I lost my brother to a sudden stroke and heart attack when he was only 68. I had to break it to my mother who was then in a nursing home. I flew to Dallas and made all the funeral arrangements but then had to tell my mother that her son had died. It damn near finished me off to do it, but I helped her through the ordeal and the burial. What a sad, sad time.
Hope you will be OK thru such a difficult time, MM...

Not sure of the circumstances for your brother, but he was not alone in early death from liver issues
Death from liver diseases has been on the rise the last 20 years
I can't find a good article right now and this one only mentions weight diet and alchohol
but I've read our daily exposure to just more chemicals adds to the rate increase no matter how hard you try to avoid by keeping other healthy habits - uff da !
