It was called "Rednecks" and it epitomized racism, albeit only Southern racism at the time.
If Newman is still alive, I hope he comes back with another rendition of "Rednecks" to remind us all of that time in U.S. history.

East St. Louis, the south side of Chicago, other places he names that I can't remember off the top of my head.
He very justly calls out the banality, backwardness, and the provincialism of right-wing white Southerners. But racists elsewhere don't escape his satirical wit.
