Gov. Jerry Brown signed Assembly Bill 485 into law Friday, The Orange County Register reported. It takes effect in January 2019, and pet store owners who violate it will face a $500 fine.
The Democratic governors signature was celebrated by animal welfare groups, including Social Compassion in Legislation, the bills sponsor

(15,805 posts)2. That's a great start on shutting down the puppy mills, but they'll still find place to sell animals.
Here in California sellers have permanent booths at the big flea markets, so they must be doing a booming business with people looking for bargain priced pets. They should shut them down too.

He and the state AG have been working non stop to resist the fucking moron and do whatever it can for the state. Since Brown is leaving office soon I think he is doing as much as he can while he still can.
